Empty Bowls began in 1990 as an art class project in a Michigan high school to raise funds for a food drive. Students made ceramic bowls, served a meal of soup and bread, and invited guests to keep the bowl as a reminder of hunger in the world.
Since its inception, this simple project has evolved into a far-reaching program providing support for food banks, soup kitchens, and other organizations that fight hunger. Empty Bowls events have been held throughout the world, raising millions of dollars for use in combating hunger.
You are invited to join us November 9th, 2018 at 7pm in the Woodland High School Commons for a celebration of works from local artists and enjoy a humble meal of soup and bread at our 3rd Annual Empty Bowls & Silent Auction
If this is your first year attending then you can look forward to selecting your very own "empty bowl", donated by Clark County Art students, to serve as a reminder that there are folks within our community who face hunger and food insecurity in their lives.
We have the help of the SkillsUSA students, local restaurants and businesses who are donating their time and culinary skills for the evening, talented local musicians to entertain you and special items have been donated for our silent auction.
